Project Description

The Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu has successfully completed the first phase of its
school-level eye health camp under an ongoing eye screening initiative focused on improving
eye care and identifying vision-related problems among students in public schools across
Chandragiri Municipality.
Earlier this year, an initial screening was conducted among nearly 15,000 students from different
community schools within the municipality. During the screening process, around 1,500 students
were identified with various eye-related issues. In the first phase of the follow-up program,
approximately 800 students received detailed eye examinations from specialist doctors.
The eye camp was organized at Mangalodaya Secondary School, Thankot, where students
underwent vision testing, medical consultation, and diagnosis of eye-related conditions. The
event saw active participation from students, parents, local community members, and Rotary
representatives.
The program was attended by Rotary Club President Prem Kumar Oli, Program Coordinator and
Past President Leelanath Sharma, Past Presidents Dr. Parthiweshwor Prasad Timilsina and
Indira Parajuli, Vice President Deepti Singh, spouse Gajab Kumari Timilsina, and other
Rotarians and school representatives.
A medical team from BP Koirala Lions Center, led by Prakash Poudel, conducted the
examinations. Students requiring spectacles will receive free eyeglasses through the club’s
support initiative.
